Over three decades of electrical and electronic engineering experience specializing in both new product development technology and design, and existing equipment root cause failure analysis. Designed products to  conform with all applicable standards used throughout the world. Work experience includes garage and  automatic doors, gates, aerial lifts, disk drives, handheld electronic test equipment, heavy construction  equipment, kiosks, automatic teller machines, and gaming machines. 

Door and Gate Experts – Las Vegas, NV 2023-Present

Consultant, Expert Witness, Electrical & Electronics Door, Gate & Sensor Specialist My qualifications as both an expert witness and engineering consultant include specialized research and analysis of both the electrical and electronic workings for door and gate industry products. This  includes the functionality and testing of electronic sensors, controls, logic board controllers, wiring  problems, etc., providing comprehensive analysis of failure mechanisms for injury, damage and  failure cases. Qualified to conduct site inspections, provide expert reports, affidavits, deposition and  trial testimony. Have extensive knowledge about the rules and standards, including UL and ANSI,  that apply to the door and gate industry.

Electrical Engineer Consultant Las Vegas, NV 2018-Present

Providing engineering consultation for the development of new kiosks and gaming machines,  including complete engineering support of harness, circuit, PCB, and software design. Interface with  customers and vendors to facilitate delivery of products per timelines. Design products to conform  with all applicable standards and pass necessary testing such as ESD, ground bond, Hi-Pot, etc. 

Ahern Engineering Las Vegas, NV 2021-2024 Senior Electrical Engineer  

Responsible for the complete electrical design of over 12 new heavy equipment products, including scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, glass lifters, burden and personnel carriers. Provided complete  support from the design phase through prototyping and into production, including wiring harness and  circuit design, along with the integration of software. Fully integrated both Cummins and Kubota  engines and generators. Design was done using Solidworks and PDM.  

Wells Gardner Las Vegas, NV 2019-2021 Senior Electrical Engineer  

Responsible for the entire electrical design of LCD and OLED monitors, including harnesses,  implementation of touch screens, and colorimeter testing to ensure that all monitors are of consistent  design and production. Interfaced with engineering team in Taiwan and factory in China to complete  all projects. Provided support for trade shows including G2E and DSE.

Nevatronix Las Vegas, NV 2018-2019 Senior Electrical Engineer  

Full electrical support from prototype to production of kiosks, ATM’s, and slot machines, including design of circuits and harnesses. Responsible for compliance to all electrical standards including UL, CAS, and TUV.

Not only did I learn how to fix my own chronic back pain, I also learned how to help  millions of people with chronic back pain. I documented everything that I had learned in  a book titled Chronic Back Pain Solved: The Cause and Cure of Chronic Back Pain 

Western Digital Corporation Irvine, CA 2007-2011 Senior Principal Engineer – Systems 

Responsible for all steps needed to complete test process validation, including building firmware  packages, coordination of drives for test and distribution, and debug of build and drive related issues.  Interfaced with necessary groups to solve process related issues. 

 

Cornice Corporation Longmont, CO 2003-2006 Senior Electrical Engineer – Failure Analysis 

Responsible for Failure Analysis in new product development of hard disk drives. Provided FA  support for yield improvement at the process and post process level in the US and China.  Responsible for all aspects of drive failure analysis from writing scripts to mechanical and reliability  testing.  

Maxtor Corporation Longmont, CO 1998-2003 Senior Electrical Engineer – Failure Analysis 

Responsible for Failure Analysis in new product development of hard disk drives. Provided FA  support for yield improvement at the process and post process level in the US and Singapore.  

Amprobe Instrument Denver, CO 1995-1998 Design Engineer 

Responsible engineer for new product development of electronic test equipment, including rapid  development of low cost electronic designs implemented with both hardware and software.  Performed layout and routing of multilayer PCB’s. Conformed with all the necessary standards to  enter new products into the marketplace.
